Closing ceremony

The Closing Ceremony for the Urban Internship Program 2011 was held at the Urban Unit on 17th August, 2011. The interns presented the work done by them during their internship period. Dr. Nasir Javed chaired the ceremony and shared his views about the internship program and appreciated the efforts of interns. The stipend, certificates and prizes for the Sheikhupura interns were awarded on 10th October at the Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC) Sheikhupura campus. Ms. Sani-e-Zahra Naqvi (Urban Planner at the Urban Unit) delivered a note of thanks and distributed the certificates, prizes and stipend to the interns.

Outcomes

The interns experienced various learning outcomes such as competency, professionalism, work ethics and practical work in their respective fields. They gained an understanding of how an organization operates at a variety of levels. In all, 5 interns, 3 in Geographic Information System (GIS), 1 in Solid Waste Management (SWM) and 1 in Urban Transport sector reported receiving a job offer after completing their internships. Those who did not receive an offer estimated they had a high chance of receiving one on the completion of their degree programs. They also reported that internship was an immense learning opportunity for them.
